Prezi

I created this Prezi to use at our annual Back to School Night which usually takes place during the first week or two of school. Each teacher presents important information to parents for 30 minutes. I now have a projector in my class so I will be able to use a visual aid to go along with my oral presentation.

I like using Prezi because I think viewers find it more interesting than a PowerPoint presentation. I plan on creating more Prezis in the future, especially if I am presenting professional development information at my school. My students would also enjoy Prezi, even though they are kindergartners. A simple Prezi I could create would be one using their sight words. I could put one sight word on each frame. I think that would create more interest among my students. Although Prezis can be more time-consuming to create, especially when one is first learning how, I believe that the end result is worth the initial time investment.

  1. Carolyn,

This Prezi looks awesome! I really like how you had your main 'tree' theme that all other ideas stemmed off of. Putting in the video from the principal helps add emphasis to you commitment to create readers and since this is an online tool, the parents could have access to it at any time.

  2. I also created a back to school night Prezi. I think having important information visual for parents is such a great idea and prezi allows us the opportunity to do it in a unique and interesting way!

  3. I liked your presentation. It was very eye-catching as well as informative. I also liked the fact that each branch contained useful information that was straight to the point. Concise information is extremely useful to parents.

  4. I love the idea of using at back to school night! I think we have to keep our parents as intrested in what we are saying as our kids, and for families who have been in the building a "new" way of presenting the information may keep them wanting more. This may be a summer project for me!
